Bold new approach to wind ‘farm’ design may provide efficiency gains

ScienceDaily (2011-07-13) — Conventional wisdom suggests that because we’re approaching the theoretical limit on individual wind turbine efficiency, wind energy is now a mature technology. But researchers have recently revisited some of the fundamental assumptions that guided the wind industry for the past 30 years, and now believe that a new approach to wind farm design — one that places wind turbines close together instead of far apart — may provide significant efficiency gains.

Julie – want to make a biology GigaPan?

ScienceDaily (2011-04-22) — Researchers have leveraged the latest browser technology to create GigaPan Time Machine, a system that enables viewers to explore gigapixel-scale, high-resolution videos and image sequences by panning or zooming in and out of the images while simultaneously moving back and forth through time.

Toward a Computer Model of the Brain: New Technique Poised to Untangle Brain’s Complexity

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/04/110410181302.htm.

The Human Genome project was a childs play compaired to the development of a Computer Model of the brain.  I am not even sure even possible with current computer archetectures however fast or scaled.

Doing smart or taking advantagious actions is not only only for animal scale

“The researchers showed that these nanotubes connect bacteria of the same and different species. Via these tubes, bacteria are able to exchange small molecules, proteins and even small genetic elements (known as plasmids).” Calls into question what scale should we consider actions random vs. puprosefull. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/03/110302080003.htm
